I wasn't around when you posted the proto page, but a few things struck me while reading the page that's now up on the site:
- About "We do not accept scores achived using [...] Action Replays or similar devices"; the Saturn's Action Replay can be used to play imports in addition to / instead of using cheat codes, so would ARs be allowed to be used in that capacity or not? Probably something worth clearing up, and I don't know if other devices (like the Saturn's GameShark) allow that too...
- Come to think of it, what's Score Attack's exact stance on imports? Now of course the PAL, US and Japanese versions of the games should all be allowed when played on the intended kind of Saturn, but what about things like hardware modding to play imports? I know that quite a few hardcore Saturn owners will have their systems modded with 50Hz/60Hz switches and region switches, and as far as I know these modifications shouldn't have any side-effects... but it's really up to you what rules you set down for imports and modifications. If you do allow imports, it'd be vitally important that people play the games on a Saturn that'll run them at the intended speed (i.e. 50Hz for PAL games, 60Hz for NTSC games), and that would have to be made totally clear on this page.
- Also on the subject of hardware modding, what about getting scores with a "backup" copy of the game burned to a CDR and played on a modchip'd Saturn? My personal recomendation would be to not allow this, because it sort-of encourages illegal distribution of the game (which always looks bad), and opens up some sort of possibility that people might be playing with an edited or damaged rip of the game (espcially if they've downloaded it off the net)...
- About the Splash Garden / Stick Canyon exploits: I know I said a while back that I'd do you a proper write-up of the Stick Canyon glitch for the site (complete with screenshots and stuff), and I'll definitely still do that, but I could also do you a proper explanation of the Splash Garden exploit as well, in which case you can use those as "official" descriptions of What Not to Do, if you like. As I mentioned elsewhere, I'm kind of busy with stuff at the moment, but if you want these I'll definitely get them done when I've got less on my plate.
- It looks like there's a couple of quirks with the current links to those forum topics: the Splash Garden one doesn't have the right URL, and the Stick Canyon one goes to the right place but is labelled "Soft Museum glitch". :O
- Also in that paragraph, I'd say that the text "or any other exploit, discovered or undiscovered, allowing scores not possible in normal gameplay" is possibly not necessary and might even be a bit confusing. For example, I don't think of the Twin Seeds star-milking tactic as being "normal gameplay", but it's being allowed by the site because I think everyone can agree that it's not degenerately bad or inappropriate. To keep it simple, you could just say that those two exploits are currently not allowed for high scoring - and maybe add that if any other inappropriate exploits are discovered in the future, they'll be announced on the front page and added to the list; the bit you wrote underneath about people asking if they're unsure covers other possibilites nicely.
- The text "Any score which cannot be saved on a memory card" should really be "...to your Saturn's internal memory or a memory card." Remember that not everyone is hardcore enough to own a cartridge. :)
- The "How do I view boss times?" box-out currently has the same text as the "How do I select a boss?" bit.
EDIT: for clarity.
