Has anyone actually seen one of the eggs being laid when a nightmarian touches a nightopian? Do they been to bouncing in ball form, or touch when they're dizzy on the ground?

That's something I've wondered about, too; at the moment I suspect the enemy has to hit the Nightopian before bouncing off anything else, or at least while it's still travelling at a fast speed after being hit. I've definitely seen Nightopians lay eggs when hit immediately by a spinning enemy, and I'm sure I've seen them not lay eggs when hit by enemies that are bouncing or rolling slowly around on the ground. NiGHTS' whole A-Life system seems so odd that I'm never quite sure what to make of it though, or whether I'm underestimating or overestimating how complex it is...
Ah not bouncing of a wall... didnt think about that.
I read somewhere that Nights A-life was a prototype for the Sonic Adventure one - which is of course far more controlable.
Annoying as my old save had a king (or queen - who knows...) nightopian in Soft Museum.
I just love how if you ever mess up and turn into the kids, it becomes egg hunt time.

Yeah, it's been ages since I've played Sonic Adventure but I don't remember having any trouble manipulating the system to produce a maxed-out god of a Chao. I agree you can see the similarities between the two systems too, a big one being that each system is fairly complex but has almost nothing to do with the rest of the game it appears in, and was apparently created on a whim because Sonic Team like cute virtual pets. :P The whole cross-breeding, egg-hatching themes are similar too of course...

And bizarrely I've still never ended up with one of those. Spring Valley is up to about the 200th night on my current save-game file and packed with critters but there's still no sign of an androgynous-ruler Nightopian showing up there...
