No, it's not a fluke. Here's what I do:
Everything normal, but when you get to the last breakable wall, the one where you can break up or down, I grab her when she is in the middle (near the solid portion of the wall and not next to the two breakables), and angle her really steep. What happens is she breaks the wall, but bounces there instread of being thrown into the last portion of her 'house'. You can then instantly grab her, and even from that distance if you throw her, you can smash her and pop her.
Which means, it should be possible to hit 102.

Getting a better-than-101 time on Puffy
I'm sure we have all done this by accident: grabbing Puffy when she is very close to a wall / floor / ceiling, and then hurling her, but then NiGHTS almost instantly grabs her again because she bounced off said wall / floor / ceiling. If angled correctly, NiGHTS will actually grab her but be caught in her inertia, and therefore travel much faster than with a regular drill dash while still holding on to her. It's all about a) grabbing her close to a wall, b) angling her right, and c) a bit of luck - grab her too close and you get hit and lose 5 seconds.
On the 103 score I managed to do this twice in succession, though theoretically it's possible to do it more and therefore hit a better time.
