At Scoreattack.net I aim to provide videos and articles documenting every score based aspect of the game that I am able while trying to learn more about the game itself. I hope to make this the best collection of high level NiGHTS into Dreams gameplay information on then net while fostering a friendly community of players interested in sharing ideas in our forums.
30th April - TRiPPY
After much cajolingTRiPPY (also known as iNFRA) was kind enough to send us her first set of scores. They are for Twin Seeds and clearly show that we might have a thing or two to learn from the red haired one. Most people start at the bottom of the table and start working up but TRiPPY starts smack in the middle of the TS table just ahead of ahead the Frozen Bell champ Kraken.

We also have a nearly complete set of boss times including a SR on Wizeman! Looks like NiD.com admins debut in style. I have a feeling we will be seeing more from TRiPPY before too long...
29th April - Linkus
More steady improvements from Linkus, every score on Splash Garden increased this time. A new SG1 Link of 80 shows he is getting achingly close to perfecting the infinite that level. scores of 40k plus on SG2,3 and 4 led to a massive a leap on his SGT to 307,780 which is over double his previous score.

Now a public service announcement. Nightsintodreams.com is currently undergoing a bit of downtime so we are hosting a kind of temporary forum for a few days. Obviously most of the members are fairly hardcore NiGHTS fans which is good news.
28th April - GSK
GSK continues to impress, this time on Frozen Bell 6 improvements, one of which a notable SR, 108,790 on FB1 leaves his FBT at a tidy 605,460.
26th April - GSK, SC vids
While SC4 continues to be a royal pain I did manage to rip those two videos I mentioned a couple of days ago. I will add them to the Stick Canyon Page on the morrow. The first is for SC2 the second for SC3. Both have a little more potential but doing just fine for now.

GSK is taking a break from Spring Valley after his recent triumph. He is looking for a new level to dominate and had a tentative play with Spring Valley upping all 4 of his PRs, his M1Link and his FBT which is now approaching the 500k mark at 481,700.
25th April - Linkus
Linkus makes yet more notable imporvements on Spring Valley increasing every of his mare scores for new SVT of 392,220. HE also had a batch of three new boss scores. The best of which was a 95 on Puffy for his second 2.0. Great work once more.

25th April - GSKs World Record
It seems rather apt that a day after posting the Japanese records GSK makes the final push for Spring Valley and gets the first site WR an SVT of 577,640. His new WRs for the individual mares are equally impressive 74,600 on SV1 helped along by an SV1link of 197! The SV2 WR was pushed up further still to 64,090 and SV3 is a patience shatteringly high 98,130. Hats, scarves and gloves off to GSK the first SA.net World Records holder.

Stick Canyon cooperated long enough to grant me a couple more videos which I am encoding now and should have them for this time tomorrow. The processing has been sped up a fair amount be the 2GB of RAM I added to my machine yesterday. I can now rip videos without my machine screaming out in pain and grinding to a halt which is very handy indeed.

Lastly, spotted a very interesting new member on our forums....
24th April - Japan VS SA.net
I finally dug this out of my hard drive, it originally appeared in the www.nightsintodreams.com Imagnigod forum but the scores have appeared in various places.

http://www.scoreattack.net/images/200604/sco.bmp

GSK compared the Japanese high score to the current best for our site which was pretty interesting. Inspired by this I added up all out records and compared them to the Japanese scores and noted the difference. There is a forum thread for discussion of this topic for interested parties.

JP score - Spring Valley: 569,360
SA.net potential - 584,020 (+14,660)

Spring Valley is actually potential OVER the current known Japanese score, this is mainly due to the combined efforts of GSK and Lance!

JP Score Mystic Forest: 714,120
SA.net potential - 641,780 (-72,340)

We are a fair ways behind here but other than Lance nobody has spent alot of time on MF so I think this is feasible.

JP Score Soft Museum - 1,032,540
SA.net potential - 522,480 (-510,060)

This score I am HIGHLY suspicious of this score. I think it is exploiting and as yet undiscovered glitch. GSK has pushed the level over 500,000 which I didnt think was possible but to be only half way to the best score when we are so close on all the others seems very strange.

JP Score Splash Garden - 660,640
SA.net potential - 631,460 (-29,180)

Again, totally within reach, Especially with the new SG4 strat.

JP Score Frozen Bell: 804,000
SA.net potential - 729,780 (-74,220)

Frozen Bell has been worked pretty hard by Lance and Kraken, clearly a lot of tweaking to be done here but it seems possible.

JP Score Stick Canyon: 789,240
SA.net potential - 620,300 (-168,940)

This one is quite far behind but it at least seems vaguely possible, perhaps once the backwards link gets sorted out for SC1 and there is a possibility of an infinite for SC2 plus further optimising for SC3 and 4 I think we might get there.

No score for Twin Seeds, Xmas NiGHTS or the bosses are available at this time. All score listed are as of the 24th of April 2006

23th April - AttackchaoLD, GSK, site tweaks
Another NiGHTSintodreams.com forum member was kind enough to send us some scores, The extremely cool LD. They are entry level scores but she is already showing real potential with a VERY fast 97 on Jackle.

GSK continues to do his thing on Spring Valley increasing most of his scores, SV4 is a new SR at 92,990 and more significantly the SR for SVT is only a handful of points short of the highest known score EVER at 555,940! This is truly incredible work and Im sure another week will have out first official world record.

I did a little minor site reformatting, the numbers for scores now appear as 1,234,567 as opposed to 1234567 which I appreciate is a minor change but its a fair bit easier to read. Also I corrected a minor error on the left hand menu.
22th April - Links and publicity
In a rather cool piece of news, TRiPPY the aforementioned admin of the everso cool and extensive NiGHTSintodreams.com had a look at the site and apparently liked what she saw. Not only was she good enough to put a link back to us on the main page of het site but she even created Whole page devoted to NiGHTS high scores and promotion of SA.net from which we have already seen a fair jump in traffic. Thanks alot for that one TRiPPY!

I did a little fiddling with the link buttons on the left and top areas of the site. They are now done using css rather than slightly cumbersome Javascript rollovers. This is thanks to advice from a couple of people on a post on that PD.net forums.
21th April - Puffy soft wall glitch.
I was talking to TRiPPY of NiGHTSintodreams.com about the idea of paralooping Puffy and while having a play I accidentally managed to fling NiGHTS through a breakable wall. I dont know exactly what caused this but its certainly fun.

20th April - GSK, new glitch and Revolution news
The Spring Valley just won't stop, this time GSK does his standard hide in the shadows for a week and suddenly throw down a bunch of amazing scores. He upped 3 out of 4 SV scores doing very well indeed on the horribly random SV3 with a score of 79,440. Another of Lances site records fell as well, the SV4 SR is now 62,570 a clear 2000 points above the previous score. GSK improved his SVT score by a little but I get the feeling he was suffering from unfriendly boss fights or bad luck on SV3 as his current potential is about 50k higher. I have a sneaky suspicion he might be the first player to break a Japanese high score....

I will put up a video of this tomorrow but I found yet another glitch. I dont know exactly how I did this but I threw Puffy through a wall without breaking it ergo rendering it impossible to finish the level. Totally wierd and not something I have seen after squillions of fights with her.

Last bit of news, The internet is currently afire with rumors of a NiGHTs sequel coming to the Revolution. If this does indeed happen, my apathy on buying a new next generation console will evaporate in about 3 seconds and I will be lining up outside whatever establishment I need to in order to get my hands on one. Needless to say, should this rumor turn out to be true, Scoreattack.net will oh so be accepting high scores for it.
20th April - New SV Videos
I decided to get in on the whole Spring Valley thing and upped my SV4 to just under the current SR. I captured a video which you can see here:

I also laid down a video for my current strategy for SV3 which isnt the best score but the level is horribly random, better performances on the stunt rings would be the only major way to improve the run.

D_Linkus - 19th April
Im sure this will shock nobody but D_Linkus tacked another 10,000 or so on his Spring Valley scores but was unfortunately denied an improved SVT by an overly cranky Gillwing. He did up his Gillwing time to 113 as a consolation prize though. He then turned his sights to Frozen Bell improving ever level but FB4 and more than doubling his FBT to 313830. Awesome work there.
D_Linkus - 18th April
D_Linkus continues working on Spring Valley and upped every his scores for every level. His 42,140 on Spring Valley 2 as it was a 20,000 jump. He also his the notoriously hard backwards link on SV2.

I did a little minor site updating, Tidied up the gameplay video sites and added the Christmas Nights records to the site records page.
D_Linkus - 16th April
Not even on the site for a day and D_Linkus has already started updating his scores. Looks like this week is all about Spring Valley as Link improved every mare for a total increase of about 20 000 and a new SGT of 213,280 no doubt helped by a 110 on Gillwing which is his first 2.0.

Keep em coming people!
GSK, New Member D_Linkus - 15th April
Its been a little while but we have had a few new forum members this week, one of whom is a good friend from NiGHTSintodreams.com's forums and was good enough to submit a set of scores. Ladies and gentlemen I give you D_Linkus! He has a complete set of scores for the main game including links and bosses which im sure he is going to do a lot of work on in the near future. Good to have you aboard.

After showing us how to play Splash Garden GSK is setting his sights on Spring valley. He improved all 4 mares, his score for SG1 is especially good at 72140, which would have been a record had Lance not started backwards linking all over the place. GSKs SVT is currently 476360 but I get the feeling it won't stay there for long.
GSK, Tabitha 14th April
GSK finally hit the 600k on Splash Garden! A couple of very strong PRs on SG1 and SG2 of 104150 and 61620 gave him a very well deserved SGT of 612540 and his first 600k plus score. Excellent work there. Also worth noting he now holds the SR for SG1 link as well. It now stands at 566

I forgot to update a couple of minor scores of my own from the recent batch of Splash Garden videos I put up. That is now remedied.
13th April - New SG4, SG3 Vids
GSK outlined a strat in the forums for getting 20 chips before the Ideya capture SG4. It is a very good way of increasing your score on SG4. I mess up the loop to get the first 10 chips on my first try meaning I didnt have the time to get the 2 chip boxes in the water so it could have been higher but its a reasonably good demonstration of GSKs strat.

A couple of days ago I did a video for SG3 which isnt close to GSKs score but it does demonstrate a four lap strategy and the only real improvements that can be made are better performances on the stunt ribbons which are pretty random at best.

12th April - New SG1 Vid
Here is the aforementioned video for SG1. The link acctually breaks part way through once but I take down three enemies which game me a little extra pointwise. I think a perfect run on this level could top 105000 with out too much hassle.

GSK - 10th April
GSK is doing great work on Splash Garden with improvements on every level including a big jump on SG3 to 91860 which is a new site record. His SGT is another SR at 575820. Apparently a bad Gulpo fight denied him a score of 608800. I think the next 600k plus score is only a few days away.

9th April - Splash Garden 2 Vid
A new video showing a score of 59,870 on SG2. Its not a perfect run but more or less shows my current strat for the level although I made to total mess of the beginning of the level the remainder went ok.

Tabitha, GSK - 8th April
It would seem all the action is on Splash garden at the moment. I scored a minor improvement on SG1 and got a nice increase on SG4 bringing my score up to 53930.

GSK is working on the same level and bring us a new SG2 score of 58820. His potential SGT is now 595,820. I smell another 600k plus coming on! GSK also boosted his Gulpo by 10 seconds to 99. Good work there!
7th April - Yet another glitch
In Spring Valley there is seemingly random glitch which will stop items respawning in the second lap of SV2. Nobody seems to know exactly what causes this but it appears to happen about 1 time in 5 after doing SV1 backwards.

In other fun news, my DVD Recorded seems to be dying. I had another 3 or 4 videos recorded on that DVD but it saved the first one after finalising. I am going to try and buy a new set of blank DVDs and see if the problem is the media.
6th April - Site Repairs
I had a very helpful email pointing out some of the links for various videos were not working. I went through all the links on the main pages and I updated a few links incorrectly. This is now hopefully all fixed. Also corrected the dates on a couple of entries which I had entered as March for some reason.

While not acctually news, I lost a DVD full of interesting footage I was going to rip and upload as it for some reason got corrupted while finalising. I will get on re recording that little lot later this week.
GSK, Miles - 4th April
As promised here are the score updates from the weekend. Miles continues his dominance of the boss tables by upping his Reala time/the SR to 109. His Total Boss Time is now 715, a clear 4 seconds faster than the nearest competition. When is the Miles boss time machine going to slow down?

GSK brings us 2 PRs on SG1 and SG2 which were minor improvements and a huge jump of about 4000 points on SG3 which is a Site Record. The SG3 SR is now over the 80k mark at 82850. I think GSK might start snagging some of Lance's SRs before to long.
4th April - New Pages
There are now pages for all the main levels with video content and the entire file naming/storage structure for vids and images not makes alot more sense. I added a quick and dirty SV1 showing a possible method for the very hard backwards infinite and a basic run through of SV4 with how to get the 45 link at the start.

We also have a run for MF1 with the slightly tricky infinite and a new Gillwing vid with a time of 114. I know it is still not the fastest time but I am getting there slowly.

Its worth noting that all of the videos here are not final versions, I record the time I play NiGHTS and while I am aware its not going to be possible to have a video for every site record I do intend to have a reasonably quality video for every level before too long and I will just keep pdating them with better runs as I improve my own efforts or people start sending in submissions.

I spent a fair amount of time working on the new pages tonight so I havent had time to update the news scores from Miles and GSK but I will be on this first thing in the morning, we have some interesting stuff to come I warn you!
3rd April - Broken Links
I have a few new pages I am putting up for gameplay videos and I am reorganising the way I store videos on the site. The links are available on the left for gamplay pages for each level but they are currently not working. I will have them fixed tonight with a few more videos, including the backwards link on SV1.
GSK - 2nd April
GSK submitted 8 new PRs today, a complete set of very strong scores for Splash Garden. His SGT is now 571540 and his SG3, SG4 and SG1link scores are only a handful of points away from Site Records. Things are starting to look very close at the top of the Splash Garden tables.

A little more work on Soft Museum gave him two increases on his existing Site Records for SM1 101160 and SM1 link 356.

Excellent work there!
